Let’s start at the beginning.
What is native Gardening?
Native gardening is planting with nature in mind. Consciously using plants to support and encourage the wild world we live in. With the true wild spaces shrinking at an ever increasing rate, it is our properties that will need to work together to bring back the national biodiversity. The very biodiversity we need for the human race to survive.
For the bees, the butterflies and the birds in the sky, our yards are where the food chain starts. The right plants in the right places can create habitats overflowing with life. This life not only helps the wildlife, the healthier wildlife will help your yard. A habitat in balance is resilient, can respond to extremes in weather more rapidly and will need less maintenance over the long term, when compared to traditional landscaping.
Won’t you give native plants a chance?
Easy ways to start-
- Go Wild. Stop mowing some of those out of the way edges and look at what comes up. You might be surprised what you find. Add and subtract to create a thriving native space.
- Start Over. Clear the vegetation mechanically or chemically to prepare a site for the new native plants/seeds of your choosing
